SMI BATCH '96
SMI Batch '96: A Journey of Friendship, Memories, and Love
There’s something truly special about high school reunions. They aren’t just a chance to catch up with old friends or reminisce about the past—they’re a reminder of the bonds we built during our formative years. For the Santa Monica Institute (SMI) Batch ’96 from Mabini, Bohol, Philippines, those bonds remain as strong as ever, bringing us together in ways we never could have imagined.
MOMENTS
The Reunion
A Time of Growth and Unity
As students at SMI, we were dreamers, each of us full of ambition and energy. Our classrooms buzzed with lively discussions, laughter, and sometimes the struggles of balancing studies with youthful fun. We spent countless hours studying, preparing for exams, and learning not just from textbooks, but from each other. In between classes, the playgrounds and hallways echoed with shared jokes, stories, and, inevitably, some friendly teasing.
- Batch '96 was a close-knit group, and as the years have gone by, many of us have stayed in touch, growing not only as individuals but as a community. What makes our batch particularly unique is that from among our classmates, two souls found something much deeper than friendship—they found love.
From Classmates to Life Partners
One of the most heartwarming stories of our batch is that of a husband and wife who were once classmates at SMI. During those high school days, they sat beside each other in classes, exchanged notes, and helped each other with school projects. Who would have thought that those innocent days of shared knowledge and teenage banter would blossom into a beautiful partnership?
Their journey from being classmates to lifelong companions is a testament to the strong bonds formed within our batch. It is a story that reminds us how friendships can evolve into something much deeper, rooted in trust, understanding, and shared experiences.
A Legacy of Friendship and Success
Now, nearly three decades later, we look back with pride at how far we’ve come. Many of us have pursued different paths—some as professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, or leaders in various fields. But no matter where life has taken us, the memories we created at Santa Monica Institute still bind us.
Our shared experiences have become the foundation of enduring friendships that span across continents. And for the couple who started as classmates, their love story is a cherished part of our batch’s legacy, symbolizing the deep connections that began within the walls of SMI.

Looking Ahead
As Batch ’96, we remain grateful for the education and experiences we gained at Santa Monica Institute. We owe much to our teachers, mentors, and each other. And as we continue to grow in our respective lives, we carry with us the values of camaraderie, love, and respect that SMI instilled in us.
Here’s to many more years of friendship, success, and shared memories. Whether it’s catching up at reunions or staying connected through social media, we are, and always will be, proud members of SMI Batch ’96—together, forever.
